The Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions use state and federal resources to support our communities, the state, and the nation with a ready military force for national defense and state emergency response and to assist Colorado veterans.

Job Description

This position works Tuesday through Friday, 6:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., performing preventative maintenance on heating and air‑conditioning systems and assisting a journeyman with the repair, maintenance, and installation of heating, air‑conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, fire protection, building equipment, utility, and related systems on Buckley Space Force Base. Specific duties include installing, modifying, and repairing the following equipment:

• a variety of low‑pressure steam boilers
• hot‑water boilers
• pumps
• forced‑air heating units and ventilating systems
• new and existing air‑conditioning units including hermetic, semi‑hermetic, absorption, cooling towers, and other open‑type equipment
• new and existing refrigeration equipment including walk‑in and reach‑in coolers and freezers

Electrical Work Assistance

• Heating systems
• Air‑conditioning systems
• Refrigeration systems

Wiring Installation Assistance

• Control circuits
• Pneumatic control systems
• Direct digital controls
• Temperature and humidity controls

Minimum Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in heating, ventilating, air‑conditioning, and refrigeration systems and/or HVAC systems.
• Must have a CFC License.
• Must possess a current and valid Colorado Driver’s License at the time of application.
• Must be able to pass a background investigation.
• Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance within six months of hire.
• Must be willing to work overtime and/or on‑call as needed.

Substitutions

Successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipe fitting, steam fitting, or HVAC apprenticeship program, or higher‑level non‑correspondence coursework in the same fields from an accredited vocational school or university may substitute for one year of the required experience.
