Job summary

William & Mary and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science seeks an HVAC Helper to assist in the maintenance and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC systems. The role supports senior mechanics, provides tools, and relays critical field information for troubleshooting.

Eligible candidates should hold Universal EPA Certification and a valid Virginia driver’s license, with the ability to work in varied environments and overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience in the safe use of power and hand tools.
• Ability to climb ladders, work overhead, and maneuver in tight spaces.
• Must be able to work in extreme environments (summer heat and winter cold).
• Valid Virginia Driver's License and two years of driving experience.

Responsibilities

• 50% - HVAC Assistance: assist in maintenance/repair of HVAC systems and provide tools to technicians.
• 25% - HVAC Maintenance: perform preventative maintenance, replace filters/belts, clean coils.
• 15% - HVAC Site Preparation: setup transport and site equipment, coordinate access and clean-up.
• 5% - Work Administration: maintain work orders and document actions.
• 5% - Other Duties: perform additional tasks as assigned.
