Description of Position:
As a HVAC Technician you will be primarily responsible for working with HVAC Field Technicians in the installation and repair of environmental control systems, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, control systems, pipe fitting, and structural layouts. In this position you will establish & maintain a positive relationship with customers, vendors, and co-workers through effective oral and written communication skills with all stakeholders. You will perform scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance, inspections, site surveys, and service requests including repairs, replacement, and modifications of equipment or systems as needed or requested by customers.
Responsibilities for this position:
Reason for Hire:
Provide support for DOE, Washington, DC, O&M preventive maintenance program as well as customer service work order requests.
The position will be HVAC Technician that will grow with the company and be a direct report to the Regional Manager.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
5+ years of experience in HVAC
Must be able to pass State, Federal or site background checks and a drug screen
Valid driver’s license required for job-related driving, with no major violations in the past 5 years
Ability to physically perform demanding tasks, including regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling
Must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs regularly, 50 lbs frequently, and more than 50 lbs occasionally
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree (A.S.) in HVAC or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning with EPA Universal refrigerant certification.
Candidate should live within 1 hour of the job site.
Ability to work alone.
Principles and practices of Heating, Venting, Air Conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and repair; hazard and safety practices common to the trade.
Working knowledge of HVAC controls and safety devices; appropriate Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) / chemical usages; tools of the trade; materials and refrigerant recovery equipment and procedures used in installing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC systems.
Mechanical/electrical aptitude (ability to troubleshoot, restore, and maintain a wide variety of equipment).
Knowledge and practical experience troubleshooting Direct Digital Controls (DDC) systems and their electrical interfaces with commercial mechanical equipment.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints.
Good understanding and experience with the mechanical and electrical systems of commercial buildings.
Practical knowledge and experience with controls calibration and testing tools.
Experience with water chemistry applications and control.
Practical knowledge of power and steam generation systems.
Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
OSHA 30 certification (or ability to earn certification after hiring).
Practical knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical equipment.
Ability to follow directions and perform work under the direction of the operations and maintenance supervisor.
Knowledge of chillers and chilled water systems.
Knowledge of pumps.
Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Knowledge of Variable Air Volume units (VAVs).
Knowledge of pneumatics and air compressors.
