Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced HVAC technician to lead troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on commercial-grade systems. You will work with multi-zone HVAC, read blueprints, and apply digital controls and energy management systems on multiple buildings.

The role requires 2+ years of trades experience, EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery preferred, and the ability to lift heavy equipment, follow safety procedures, and document preventive maintenance activities.

Qualifications

  • HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance experience.
  • Understanding of safety procedures and EMCS knowledge.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of trades experience.
  • Eligible to work in the United States and pass background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Lead troubleshooting and repair on commercial HVAC and multi-zone systems.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, and alteration of plant HVAC/R systems.
  • Develop modification plans and preventive maintenance checklists.
  • Interpret blueprints and EMCS for remodels and modifications.
  • Document preventive maintenance activities and complete paperwork.

Job description

  • Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts on commercial-grade HVAC and multi-zone systems
  • Perform mechanical maintenance, inspection, repair, installation, and alteration of plant heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine equipment servicing
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial air conditioning and multi-zone heating and cooling systems with digital and central energy management controls
  • Develop HVAC system modification plans and help plan modification jobs
  • Create preventive maintenance checklists for new equipment
  • Interpret as-built building blueprints and recommend system modifications for remodel projects in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Research and select materials for HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • Serve as a company representative to contractors, owners, and trades
  • Report preventive maintenance inspections to supervisors and recommend corrective actions
  • Complete and submit maintenance paperwork to the Maintenance Lead
  • Perform other maintenance duties assigned by the Maintenance Lead or manager
Requirements
  • Knowledge of HVAC installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade
  • Ability to develop HVAC system modification plans
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Experience documenting and tracking preventive maintenance activities
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, building materials, and emergency maintenance
  • Detailed knowledge of HVAC systems with digital controls and multi-building computer-based Energy Management and Control Systems (EMCS)
  • Ability to perform mechanical and electrical inspection and maintenance
  • Ability to perform oiling, belt adjustment, cleaning, greasing, and other preventive maintenance
  • Ability to diagnose equipment and determine repair and maintenance needs
  • Ability to maintain records of work performed
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks independently
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Strong ability to read and understand technical instructions and follow blueprints
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of equipment, tools, and methods used to repair commercial and residential air conditioning and heating equipment
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC operating principles and safety practices
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of trades experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities
  • Completed formal HVAC training through an academic program or apprenticeship
  • Minimum age of 21, or 18 in CT, PA, and WV
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a background screening
  • Current EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification preferred
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, move, or carry at least 100 lbs. to a height of 5 feet and a distance of 50 feet
  • Ability to work extended periods seated or standing and perform climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and frequent hand movements
  • Ability to handle organic matter daily and wear required PPE
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions, including temperatures of 95 degrees or greater
  • Visual acuity sufficient for reading, computer viewing, and detailed inspections in day and night conditions
  • Ability to communicate verbally at conversational levels with coworkers, vendors, and others

Demonstrates expertise in HVAC installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance, with a strong focus on safety practices and compliance. Proficient in developing modification plans and performing preventive maintenance on commercial-grade systems.
