Responsibilities

• Diagnoses electrical, mechanical and refrigerant issues across commercial/industrial systems.
• Implements preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Maintains rack systems, walk-ins and refrigeration units.
• Monitors Energy Management Systems, performs routine checks and coordinates repairs.
• Ensures compliance with HVAC/R regulations including cold chain and indoor air quality requirements.
• Reclaims ozone-depleting refrigerants and documents usage.
• Leads field teams and mentors technicians and apprentices on safety practices.

Job description

• Installs HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics.


• Configures and calibrates low ambient systems and direct digital controls to meet operational specifications.


• Interprets layout plans and schematics to ensure accurate system setup and compliance with building codes.


• Diagnoses and resolves mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues across commercial and industrial systems.


• Implements preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and minimize downtimes.


• Maintains and repairs rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units.


• Ensures the proper operation of HVAC systems and Energy Management Systems by performing routine checks, identifying issues, and coordinating necessary maintenance or repairs.


• Conducts inspections and repairs in compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R regulations, including cold chain and indoor air quality requirements.


• Reclaims ozone‑depleting refrigerants and ensures proper documentation of refrigerant usage.


• Leads field teams and mentors less‑experienced Technicians and Apprentices on technical procedures and safety practices.

Requirements

• Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or construction‑related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.


• Option 2: 4 years' experience in mechanical maintenance or construction‑related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.


• Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.


• Valid state‑issued driver's license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.


• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.


• Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.


• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.


• No serious traffic violations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
