Job summary

Aire Serv of Iowa City is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to serve residential and light-to-medium commercial clients. You will diagnose, repair, and present options to customers, delivering high-quality service with a focus on trust and education.

Requirements include a Iowa Journeyman or Master license with 4+ years residential experience, EPA 608, and willingness to learn and mentor others. 25-mile commuting proximity to Tiffin is preferred.

Qualifications

• EPA Universal 608 certification is required.
• Iowa Journeyman or Master license with 4+ years residential experience.
• NATE certification is a plus.
• Experience with residential and light-to-medium commercial service.

Responsibilities

• Explain work and options; build rapport and trust; execute repairs efficiently.
• Diagnose and repair a commercial walk-in cooler.
• Install or service rooftop units, refrigeration equipment, or perform routine maintenance.
• Mentor junior techs and assist with installs or service tasks.

We are looking for an experiencedHVAC Technician (Residential and Commercial)to take a customer-facing role across residential and light-to-medium commercial service. You’ll meet customers, diagnose and repair equipment, present options clearly, and deliver high-quality service every visit. • Flexible and willing to help and mentor others on the team. Excited to possibly grow into a trainer/leader role within 6–12 months.
• Must live within reasonable commuting distance from Tiffin (within 25 miles).

Role Fundamentals / Requirements:

• Iowa Journeyman and Master’s License, 4+ years for top pay
• Residential field experience required (commercial/refrigeration experience highly valued).

Certifications: EPA Universal 608 required. NATE is a plus.

• Required skills: service & troubleshooting, air conditioning (must), gas furnaces (must - not only electric). Heat pumps and mini-splits are a plus. Boilers helpful but not required.
• Commercial experience: rooftop units, walk-in coolers, ice machines, and light commercial service work is common. Basic electrical skills expected.
• Must be able to perform independently within a short ramp-up (expected out of top pay candidates).
• Must be able to lift 60+ lbs and work in varied environments and weather.
• No smoking or vaping in company vehicles or on customer property.
• Must have reliable transportation and some on-call availability.

Day in the Life (example):

  • Diagnose and repair a commercial walk-in cooler.
  • Pick up parts from supplier for another customer.
  • Complete residential AC/furnace diagnostic and repair.
  • Install or service rooftop units, refrigeration equipment, or perform routine maintenance calls.
  • Mentor junior techs and help the team with installs or service tasks, as needed.
