Job summary

One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of Somerset, NJ is seeking a skilled HVAC Installer to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems across residential, commercial, and industrial settings, with emphasis on reading schematics and interpreting design plans.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience, knowledge of HVAC/R systems, and the ability to work with welding and plumbing connections.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in installation and/or service roles involving HVAC systems.
• Ability to read schematics and design plans for installations.
• Experience with commercial refrigeration units and plumbing connections.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Install new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on existing HVAC systems for energy efficiency.
• Read and interpret technical schematics, design plans, and electrical diagrams.
• Troubleshoot system issues using diagnostic tools and meters.
• Conduct equipment repair and replacement tasks, including welding or components upgrades.
• Assist with plumbing connections related to HVAC systems and safety standards.
• Test systems, calibrate, and ensure proper airflow and refrigerant levels.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and operate field service vehicles.

DUTIES

• Install new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment according to manufacturer specifications and schematics
• Perform maintenance and repairs on existing HVAC systems, ensuring optimal operation and energy efficiency
• Read and interpret technical schematics, HVAC design plans, and electrical diagrams to accurately execute installations
• Troubleshoot system issues using tools such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic equipment
• Conduct equipment repair and replacement tasks involving welding, mechanical repairs, or component upgrades
• Assist with plumbing connections related to HVAC systems and ensure compliance with safety standards
• Perform service technician duties including system testing, calibration, and ensuring proper airflow and refrigerant levels
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to safety protocols at all times
• Operate field service vehicles safely while transporting tools and equipment to various job sites

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 3 years experience in installation and/or service technician roles involving HVAC systems
• Knowledge of HVAC design principles, schematics interpretation, and mechanical systems troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience with commercial refrigeration units
• Familiarity with plumbing connections associated with HVAC installations
• Experience working with air conditioning systems
• Ability to operate diagnostic tools including ohmmeters and other electrical testing devices
• Prior field service experience in HVAC installation or maintenance is highly desirable
• Valid driver’s license required for travel between job sites and clean driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• NATE certification preferred
• Must display strong communication skills and technical competence
• Ability to pass a thorough background check and drug screen
