Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking an HVAC Technician to perform maintenance, repairs, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration equipment in a commercial multi‑floor building. The role requires aligning with client expectations, coordinating with engineering leadership, and delivering top-tier asset management.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, 3–4 years of related experience, and Universal CFC/EPA certifications.

Qualifications

• Technical school graduate in HVAC or Mechanical Technology preferred.
• Universal CFC and EPA certifications required.
• Proficient in HVAC concepts and maintenance.
• Chiller & Boiler experience preferred.
• Knowledge of CMMS processes and systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain HVAC systems across a commercial building.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in HVAC equipment.
• Perform rounds, preventive, reactive, and repair maintenance tasks.
• Assist with energy conservation strategies.
• Maintain safety as per OSHA and site leadership requirements.
• Keep written records and basic reports of activities.
• Work with clients, engineering leadership, and vendors to ensure client satisfaction.

Job description

The HVAC Technician performs maintenance, repairs and installation of assigned HVAC and Refrigeration equipment and controls, chilled water systems, boilers, and various other mechanical, electrical and building systems in accordance with client expectations and requests.

Pay $35 per hour:

The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant's experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

1st shift (Monday - Friday) 7am to 3:30pm with some OT.

he HVAC Technician is responsible for ensuring that the Heating, Venting, and Air Conditioning systems of a commercial, multi-floor building are maintained and operating in optimum condition. This role involves working directly with clients, engineering leadership, and vendors to deliver top-tier asset management and ensure client satisfaction through strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills.

• Install/maintain HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues within HVAC systems
• Perform rounds, reactive, preventative and repair maintenance tasks
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks
• Assist with energy conservation strategy
• Chiller & Boiler Experience preferred
• Ensure adherence to all safety standards as identified by engineering leadership and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards
• Learn, understand, and comply with fire, safety, and other emergency practices
• Keep simple written records of activities performed and complete basic reports
• Maintain good working relations with other staff and client contacts and employees
• Work in confined areas
• Work independently and effectively with minimal supervision while under pressure and within strict time constraints.
• Work assigned shifts and overtime as needed
• Return all work areas to a clean, neat, orderly, and safe condition
• Inform supervisor of any condition observed to be unsafe
• Additional duties as assigned

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Minimum of 3-4 years of related experience.
• Technical school graduate in HVAC or Mechanical Technology preferred.
• Universal CFC and EPA certifications required.
• Proficient in all general HVAC concepts.
• Proficient in HVAC maintenance
• Chiller & Boiler Experience preferred
• Knowledgeable of the equipment, tools and materials used in HVAC services and building maintenance.
• Prior experience in troubleshooting with excellence
• May require shift work, overtime and/or on call duties. Stooping, standing, climbing and frequent lifting of a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment (pump, tools, ladders) and ability to safely install rigging/lifting device.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead others
• Able to communicate verbally and in writing
• Knowledge of CMMS software processes and systems.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and other technical documentation.
• Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, blueprints, and other technical documentation.
