Job Details: Job Location: Episcopal High School - Alexandria, VA 22302, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: High School, Salary Range: $35.00 - $37.00 Hourly, Episcopal High School in Alexandria Virginia, is seeking a full-time Journeyman HVAC technician to assist the HVAC Lead with troubleshooting, installing, repairing, servicing, and overhauling commercial and residential HVAC and associated equipment, performing journeyman level work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the HVAC Lead with installing and repairing motors, motor controllers and associated electrical pilot control devices.
- Assists the HVAC Lead with installing sheet metal accessories and equipment, including air handlers, exhaust fans, fire dampers, louvers, etc.
- Assists in the maintenance and administration of water treatment as appropriate to HVAC systems.
- Must be available to work overtime as required, including weekends and possible after-hours shifts, to ensure operational needs are met.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- Required to inspect crawl spaces, attics, laboratories, ventilation equipment, mechanical rooms, mechanical shafts, sub basements and confined, isolated areas, including manholes and steam tunnels.
- Risk exposure to asbestos, toxic vapors, heat, cold, height and accumulated dirt.
- Will work as a team member responsible for the overall operation, safety and events coordination for a boarding school
- Will assist with school event setups and snow removal.
Prerequisites and Qualifications::
- HVAC Journeyman's License is required.
- Must have a minimum of seven (7) years industry experience with a strong knowledge of electrical trade and the ability to read shop and field drawings.
- Must be able to work with gas equipment and gas lines.
- Must be able to understand and use the EMS - computerized equipment management system.
- Must be able to diagnose and understand problems with all types of AHU's, VAV's Chillers, boilers, heat pumps, condensing units, frequency drives, dampers and other hvac equipment.
- Must have basic working knowledge of computers.
- Must have basic knowledge of parts inventories and warehousing.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.
- Ability to lift 100+ pounds and position heavy equipment and materials.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
