Job summary

Sagamore in Worcester, MA is hiring an HVAC Technician to install, maintain, and repair residential/commercial systems. You will use diagnostic equipment, read schematics, and perform preventive maintenance while ensuring refrigerant handling compliance.

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment to identify system problems.
• Work in diverse conditions including mechanical rooms and extreme weather.
• Highly physical role with regular lifting up to 50 pounds and sometimes more.
• Excellent problem-solving and mechanical skills.
• Proficient with power and hand tools and following instructions.
• Must have valid driver's license and EPA Universal certification.
• OSHA 10/30 and NFPA 51b Hot Works certifications required.
• HVAC Technician License required.

Responsibilities

• Installs and repairs HVAC equipment and coordinates basic maintenance.
• Uses diagnostic equipment to identify and address system problems.
• Refers to blueprints/schematics to install or troubleshoot systems.
• Ensures lines and connections are free of leaks and defects.
• Examines and tests systems with gauges and instruments.
• Removes and replaces ceiling and ductwork as needed.
• Performs regular maintenance on compressors and motors with diagnostic tools.
• Maintains repair records and complies with refrigerant handling laws.
• On-call rotation and other duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Installs and repairs HVAC equipment, which may require performing basic maintenance, adding refrigerant, replacing defective parts, and installing or building new units.
• Uses diagnostic equipment to identify and address system problems.
• Refers to blueprints and schematics to install new systems and to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair existing equipment.
• Ensures lines, components, and connections are free of leaks and defects.
• Examines and tests systems using appropriate tools, gauges, and instruments.
• Removes and replaces ceiling and ductwork.
• Performs regular maintenance on compressors and motors, using appropriate diagnostic tools and devices.
• Maintains records of repairs, work hours, and underlying causes of system problems.
• Complies with federal, state, and local laws and requirements for refrigerant handling.
• On-Call rotation
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of the installation, maintenance, and repair of various HVAC systems.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment.
• Requires working in diverse conditions including but limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage).
• This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, climbing ladders and kneeling. It requires employees to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move over 50 pounds.
