The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) offers an HVAC Supervisor Trainee Program at Buena Vista Correctional Complex. Trainees receive on‑the‑job training while maintaining facility safety and security.

The program leads toward a CSTS I role with additional experience in HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tasks. Following successful completion, opportunities for advancement to supervisory positions exist, with EPA 608 certification within one year and a path through correctional

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age, have no felony convictions or domestic violence history, and possess a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
• EPA 608 Certification (Type II, III, or Universal) within one year of obtaining CSTS I.
• Strong work ethic, integrity and dependability; sound judgment and decision making skills.

Responsibilities

• Train and supervise inmate workers to ensure safe and effective HVAC operations.
• Perform installation, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of HVAC/refrigeration equipment.
• Ensure safety, security and compliance in work sites and enforce procedures.
