Job summary

The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) has established a focused HVAC Supervisor Trainee Program at Buena Vista Correctional Complex. The trainee role combines hands-on HVAC work with safety and security responsibilities, progressing toward a CSTS I role after gaining the required experience and EPA 608 Certification.

Candidates work under Facilities Physical Plant supervision, training inmates and coordinating with other trades to maintain facility operations while ensuring regulatory

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18+, no felony history, valid driver's license.
• EPA 608 Certification preferred; obtain within 1 year of CSTS I position.

Responsibilities

• Perform HVAC design, installation, diagnostics, and maintenance on facility HVAC/refrigeration systems.
• Provide supervision to inmate crews and ensure safe, secure operations.
• Train inmates in HVAC operations and enforce PPE and safety protocols.
• Maintain documentation and coordinate with other trades to ensure timely completion of tasks.
