Essential Job Functions
- Knowledge of all tools, equipment, and skills necessary for the complete installation of projects common to the HVAC sheet metal industry.
- Possession of the tools as required by the company.
- Submit daily job progress reports to supervisors as required.
- Responsible for ordering stock or fabricated materials in advance, either personally or through the site foreman, to ensure completion of tasks.
- Help with physical jobsite organization and housekeeping to ensure a safe, professional work area.
- Operate and maintain company equipment safely; monitor the use and timely return of rented equipment.
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. Work may involve setting up and operating fabricating machines, shaping metal, soldering, welding, inspecting, and smoothing seams.
- Install assemblies like flashing, pipes, tubes, HVAC ducts, furnace casings, rain gutters, and downspouts in supportive frameworks.
- Select gauges and types of sheet metal or non-metallic materials according to specifications.
- Drill and punch holes for screws, bolts, and rivets.
- Fasten seams and joints using welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, and bonds to assemble or repair sheet metal items.
- Fabricate or modify parts at construction sites using hand tools and power tools.
- Finish surfaces, seams, and joints by trimming, filing, grinding, deburring, buffing, and smoothing.
- Maintain equipment, performing repairs and modifications when necessary.
- Move completed units and ducts into position for installation and secure them.
- Keep the worksite clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
- Engage in activities such as sitting, kneeling, climbing, squatting, crawling, and using ladders and scaffolding throughout the day.
- Obtain and maintain necessary licensing/certifications for work areas where required.
- Provide instruction and on-the-job training to crew members, emphasizing safety.
- Maintain knowledge of local/national codes and industry standards; ensure inspections are completed at all work phases.
- Support quality efforts; respond to internal and external customer needs.
- Follow safety policies and promote company values and culture.
- Ensure proper use of company assets and regular attendance.
- Wear PPE at all times on site.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 4-year certificate or 4 years of field experience.
- Thorough knowledge of sheet metal, construction practices, and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
- Valid licenses for the jurisdictions of work.
- Ability to work well in a team.
- Reliable transportation required.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, push, pull, and twist up to 50 lbs.
- Work overhead, climb ladders, and work on uneven surfaces.
- Stand for entire shifts and perform activities like walking, kneeling, crawling, etc.
Pay/Benefits
$28.00/hr. - $37.00/hr. depending on experience, with benefits including health, vision, dental, and 401k.
