Job summary

B&I Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Journeyman to join our expanding team in Florida. You will install HVAC duct systems, read plans, and ensure safety and quality on large commercial projects.

You will mentor apprentices, follow SMACNA and local codes, and collaborate with general contractors to deliver efficient installations while maintaining tools and work areas in safe condition.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years HVAC sheetmetal duct experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and project documents.
• Knowledge of duct systems and applicable codes.
• Proficient in trade math and measurements.
• Proficient in the safe and proper use of hand and power tools.
• Strong safety compliance and teamwork.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• OSHA 10 certification required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret plans, specifications, and work instructions to complete assigned installations or assemblies.
• Installs HVAC equipment (Fans, VAVs, etc.), duct and assemblies.
• Perform skilled tasks related to fabrication, layout, installation, repair, take-offs, or maintenance of duct systems.
• Work collaboratively with general contractors and other trades.
• Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
• Provide instruction, training, and guidance to trainees or apprentices to promote safe work practices and skill development.
• Maintain tools, materials, and work areas in an organized, safe, and serviceable condition.
