Job summary

Bassett Mechanical is seeking a skilled HVAC journeyman to trouble shoot, repair, maintain and install commercial/industrial HVAC systems and related equipment. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, 5+ years of experience with large HVAC systems, and good communication with customers and coworkers.

You will perform preventive maintenance, document work and coordinate with dispatch for scheduling, while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a skilled trades journeyman or have equivalent background
• At least 5 years of experience working with large industrial/commercial HVAC systems & equipment
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain and install commercial/industrial HVAC systems and related equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance within scheduled hours and to a high quality
• Follow systematic questions to diagnose customer problems and relate answers to system function
• Verify operation of the complete system before job completion to minimize callbacks
• Communicate with the customer on arrival and completion of work
• Accurately complete required paperwork and obtain customer sign-off on service reports
• Keep supervisor informed of customer-related issues
• Demonstrate capability and interest in training others
• Keep up to date with equipment knowledge and concepts
• Call in daily to dispatch to update status and work plans
• Schedule weekly workload with dispatch
• Support a safe and Lean work environment

Position Purpose

Trouble shoot, repair, maintain and install commercial/industrial HVAC systems and related equipment as assigned in a timely high quality manner to meet customer commitments and expectations.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance within the hours scheduled in a quality manner
• Upon notification of a customer problem, follow systematic questioning techniques and relate answers to the functioning of the system
• Follow point to point trouble shooting guides to find faults in a timely manner
• Check and verify operation of complete system before leaving the jobsite to minimize callbacks
• Communicate with the customer upon arrival and at completion of work
• Promptly and accurately complete all required paperwork and turn in daily; get customer to sign service reports
• Keep supervisor informed of issues related to the customer
• Demonstrate capability and interest in training others
• Keep technical knowledge up to date regarding equipment and concepts
• Call in daily to dispatch to update status of work for the day
• Contact dispatch at scheduled time for weekly scheduling of workload
• Support and maintain a safe and Lean work environment

Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Must be a skilled trades journeyman or have equivalent background (at least 5 years of experience working with large industrial/commercial HVAC systems & equipment)
• Have functioning knowledge of motor controls and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Good computer skills and knowledge of PLC's desirable
• Must have good written and verbal skills to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers
• Must be physicallyable to climb ladders, scaffolds, access rooftops, and enter restricted areas (air handlers, ducts and confined spaces) for first hand observation or inspection.
• Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record
