Job Description

The Service Technician will work independently or as part of a team responsible for the installation, startup, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of commercial HVACR equipment, systems, and units.

Job Duties

1. Serves existing accounts by analyzing work orders, planning daily travel schedules, investigating complaints, conducting tests, and resolving problems.
2. Establishes service by studying system requirements, ordering and gathering components and parts, completing installation, and performing acceptance tests.
3. Maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques, and recommending system improvements.
4. Keeps personal equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
5. Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
6. Maintains customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.
7. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
8. Follows and performs other instructions and related duties as set forth by management.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in HVAC service work, with experience in a service vehicle for an HVAC contractor.
• VRF experience is preferred; BAS/DDC Controls experience is desired.
• Must have own tools and reliable transportation.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Willing to submit to pre-employment screening, including background checks and drug screening.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and handle tools and equipment, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance. Must be able to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and have good vision capabilities. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.

Education and Experience

Technician’s Degree or equivalent from a Technical/Trade School with HVAC certification and at least five (5) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office are required.
