Job summary

Travers Mechanical in Albuquerque, NM is looking for Service Technicians I–III to join our growing HVAC service team. We welcome recent graduates from accredited trade schools and experienced techs alike, with EPA certification for mid- to senior levels.

Technicians service and repair commercial equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and work under supervision initially, with opportunities to handle diagnoses and more complex tasks as you gain experience.

Qualifications

• EPA certification is required for qualified roles.
• Experience requirements vary by technician level: I (3 or less years), II (more than 3 years), III (more than 5 years).

Responsibilities

• Service Tech I performs preventative maintenance and can repair in the field but cannot diagnose unsupervised.
• Service Tech II maintains and services commercial HVAC equipment up to 50-ton units, boilers, and heat exchangers without supervision.
• Service Tech III maintains and services complex HVAC equipment including boilers, heat exchangers, control valves, and chillers, often retrofitting and working unsupervised.

Service Tech Positions And Responsibilities

Service Tech I - The Service Technician I is often a recent graduate from an accredited trade school entering the field of HVAC service and repair and/or has 3 or less years of experience in the field. The Service Technician I position is qualified and able to make repairs in the field but is not considered proficient enough to make diagnosis for the repairs unsupervised. The Service Technician I is expected to be proficient in the area of preventative maintenance work. Attitude, work ethic, and a willingness to learn is sought after more than skill level in this position.

Service Tech II - The Service Technician II has required accreditations including EPA certification and generally has more than 3 years’ experience in the field of HVAC service and repair. The Service Technician II position is qualified and skilled in maintaining and servicing commercial grade HVAC equipment including but not limited to unitary products up to 50-ton package units, boilers, and heat exchangers without supervision.

Service Tech III - The Service Technician III has required accreditations including EPA certification and generally has more than 5 years’ experience in the field of HVAC service and repair. The Service Technician III position is qualified and skilled in maintaining and servicing commercial grade HVAC equipment, including but not limited to, unitary products up to 50-ton package units, boilers, heat exchangers, control valves, chillers (including retrofitting) without supervision.
