Position Overview
Commercial HVAC Technician responsible for installation, maintenance, and servicing of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial customers. This hourly, non-exempt position includes preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, troubleshooting, and documentation.
Duties
- Perform on‑site preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration after installation.
- Handle basic, non‑complex products and problems; refer more complex issues to higher‑level technicians.
- Use experience and technical skills to determine service requirements during preventive maintenance and system operations.
- Advise manager of preventive maintenance inspections performed and corrective actions to be taken.
- Work in a team‑based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Maintain safety by following all safety measures daily.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Be flexible to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2 to 6 years hands‑on Commercial HVAC experience.
- EPA Certification–Type I & Type II or Universal required.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- Technical aptitude for maintenance, service, and troubleshooting equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills.
- Ability to complete repairs and required paperwork.
- Ability to work independently and self‑schedule.
- Self‑motivated to complete assigned tasks within time constraints.
- Driven to succeed and able to work with minimum supervision.
- NATE certification a plus.
- Availability for weekend and night work occasionally.
- Travel may be required occasionally.
Physical Requirements
- Installation, repair, and preventative maintenance on commercial rooftop HVAC units.
- Get up and onto rooftop via fixed/extension ladder.
- Work at heights.
- Load and unload tools/equipment from work van.
- Lifting up to 75 lb.
- Lift to shoulder and overhead up to 25 lb.
- Push/pull wheeled cart up to 150 lb.
- Climb ladder up to roof height.
- Extend reach overhead repetitively.
- Manual tandem lifting load up to 125 lb.
Compensation
This is an hourly, non‑exempt role. Salary range: $39,000–$77,000 annually. Overtime paid for hours exceeding 40 weeks or as required by state law.
