Job summary

Envirotrol is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to service, maintain and repair commercial systems up to 150 tons. Responsibilities include starting systems, adjusting controls, diagnosing malfunctions, and performing site start‑ups for new equipment.

Candidates must hold a Universal refrigerant card, bring commercial HVAC experience, maintain a clean appearance, and adhere to safety rules. A valid driver’s license and flexible schedule, including weekend on‑call rotation, are required.

Qualifications

  • High School or Trade School graduate or GED.
  • Holds Universal Refrigerant Card (Type I or Universal).
  • Commercial HVAC experience.
  • Maintains regular and acceptable attendance as determined by management.
  • Maintains a flexible working schedule, including weekend on‑call rotation for stand‑by emergency service per rotation schedule.
  • Appearance is clean and neat; truck and equipment are clean.
  • Abides by safety rules and regulations, including courteous and defensive driving.
  • Maintains current, valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR.
  • Physical requirements: stand, walk, sit; lift 10–50 pounds; work in tight areas.
  • Maintains company tools per policies.

Responsibilities

  • Service, perform maintenance and repair most HVAC equipment up to 150 tons including DX equipment up to 100 tons and water‑cooled units up to 150 tons.
  • Start systems, observe operation, read gauges, and adjust valves, controls and pumps to manage flow, pressure and temperature.
  • Repair equipment by replacing or adjusting defective parts to restore operation.
  • Evaluate and diagnose malfunctions at customer sites and escalate when needed.
  • Perform site start‑ups for newly installed commercial equipment.
  • Keep dispatcher informed after each call and secure next day’s assignment.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance as per customer requirements.
  • Clean condenser and evaporator coils, fans and ductwork.
  • Inspect, adjust and replace motor belts.
  • Install wiring to connect components to power sources.

Responsibilities
  • When provided with the necessary service literature, has the technical expertise to service, perform maintenance and repair most HVAC equipment up to 150 tons including:
    1. DX equipment up to 100 tons
    2. Packaged, water‑cooled AC units up to 150 tons
    3. Water source heat pumps and associated equipment
    4. Computer room type units with self‑contained humidifiers and controls
    5. Gas‑fired and electric heating systems found in commercial equipment up to 150 tons
    6. Pneumatic, electronic and modular DDC control systems generally associated with commercial HVAC systems
    7. Air handling equipment including VAV systems typically found in larger commercial systems
  • Starts system, observes operation, reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control flow, pressure, and temperature in the system.
  • Provides repair of requested equipment, including replacement or adjustment of defective parts/components to return systems to fully operational status.
  • Performs proper evaluation and diagnosis of malfunctioning equipment at customer sites; may bring questionable situations with equipment and/or customers to the immediate supervisor’s attention.
  • Performs site start‑up services for newly installed commercial equipment.
  • Consistently contacts base after each call, keeping the dispatcher informed at all times of job status, checks in at the end of the day and obtains the next day’s assignment before leaving.
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance services as determined by the customer.
  • Performs cleaning of condenser and evaporator coils, fan and ductwork.
  • Inspects, adjusts and replaces fan belts on motors.
  • Installs wiring to connect components to an electric power source.
Qualifications and Skills

  • Abides by safety rules and regulations, including courteous and defensive driving.
  • Maintains current, valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Physical requirements: frequently required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to handle objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; lift, push, pull or carry items ranging from 10 to 50 pounds; work in very close/tight areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining company tools in accordance with company policies and procedures.
