Job summary

Riddleberger Brothers in Charlottesville, VA is seeking skilled HVAC technicians to service and repair commercial heating and cooling systems. Candidates should have a broad knowledge of HVAC equipment, a Universal Refrigerant Card, and at least three years of experience in the field.

Responsibilities include servicing various HVAC systems, following safety requirements, and performing maintenance on equipment up to 100 tons. A valid driver’s license is also required.

• Repair computer-room units with humidifiers and controls.
• Perform general maintenance on hot- and cold-water piping systems.

Specific Job Duties

• Follow and adhere to all company safety requirements and processes.
• Utilize the necessary service literature.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair DX equipment up to 100tons.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair packaged, water‑cooled AC units up to 100tons.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair water‑source heat pumps and associated equipment.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair computer‑room‑type units with self‑contained humidifiers and controls.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair gas‑fired and electric heating systems found in commercial equipment up to 100tons.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair pneumatic, electronic, and modular DDC control systems generally associated with commercial HVAC systems.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair air‑handling equipment including VAV systems typically found in larger commercial systems.
• Perform basic maintenance on atmospheric gas‑fired hot‑water boilers.
• Perform general maintenance on chilled‑ and hot‑water piping, pumping systems, and associated equipment.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair direct expansion AC equipment up to 5tons.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most gas‑fired and electric heating systems typically found in systems up to 5tons.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair low‑voltage (24‑volt or 1‑to‑10‑volt) temperature‑control systems generally associated with HVAC equipment.
• Service, perform maintenance on, and repair air‑handling equipment and duct systems associated with the commercial HVAC equipment.

Other Requirements

• Broad knowledge of larger commercial HVAC equipment.
• Understanding of single‑ and three‑phase electrical systems.
• Ability to travel to job sites and occasionally have overnight stays.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driver qualification policy.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Must be a high‑school or trade‑school graduate or have a GED.
• Must hold a Universal Refrigerant Card and Gas Fitters Card (TypeI and Universal).
• Must have at least three years of commercial experience.
