X Mechanicals LLC is seeking an HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, service, repair, and install heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for residential customers. This role includes performing preventative maintenance, system start-ups, equipment replacements, and ensuring all systems operate efficiently and safely.

The technician will diagnose issues, repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration components, perform start-ups, calibrations, and document procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years HVAC service experience (or entry-level with training).
  • EPA Certification is required.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC issues in residential systems.
  • Service and repair furnaces, AC units, heat pumps, and related components.
  • Perform system start-ups and verify airflow, refrigerant charge, and operation.
  • Replace equipment and assist with installations per manufacturer specs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and document service reports.
  • Communicate with customers about issues, options, and costs.
  • Maintain safety compliance and EPA refrigerant handling.

Position Summary

The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and installing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for residential customers. This role includes performing preventative maintenance, system start-ups, equipment replacements, and ensuring all systems operate efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

Service & Repair

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system issues (furnaces, AC units, heat pumps, air handlers, etc.)
  • Perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration components
  • Inspect equipment to identify wear, damage, or potential failures
  • Ensure proper system performance and customer comfort

Start-Ups & Commissioning

  • Perform system start-ups on newly installed HVAC equipment
  • Verify installation quality, airflow, refrigerant charge, and system operation
  • Calibrate thermostats, controls, and system settings
  • Document startup procedures and report any deficiencies

Replacements & Install Support

  • Remove and replace HVAC equipment, including condensers, furnaces, air handlers, and duct components
  • Assist with or independently perform equipment installations
  • Ensure installations meet manufacturer specifications and local codes
  • Test systems after replacement to confirm proper operation

Preventative Maintenance

  • Conduct routine maintenance visits including cleaning, inspections, and tune-ups
  • Replace filters, check electrical connections, lubricate moving parts, and test safety controls
  • Recommend repairs or system upgrades when necessary

Customer Service

  • Communicate clearly with customers about system issues, repair options, and costs
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Provide recommendations for system efficiency and longevity

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete service reports, work orders, and maintenance logs accurately
  • Follow all safety protocols and OSHA regulations
  • Maintain EPA compliance for refrigerant handling
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical/trade school preferred)
  • 2+ years of HVAC service experience (or entry-level with training)
  • EPA Certification (required)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, tools, and diagnostics
