This technician performs field activities associated with supporting the installation, maintenance, and servicing of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for commercial customers.
Duties Include
- Assist with on‑site preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration after installation
- Use technical abilities to maintain systems
- Work in a team‑based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction
- Work safely and ensure all safety measures are taken at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required
What We Are Looking For
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- HVAC trade school graduate strongly preferred (3.5 GPA and excellent attendance)
- 1+ years in a mechanical support role, hands‑on HVAC experience preferred
- EPA certification – Type I & Type II or Universal (preferred)
- NATE certification a plus
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to climb ladders
- Moderate lifting (up to 90 pounds)
- Technical aptitude to perform maintenance, service and troubleshoot equipment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills
- Ability to complete repairs and required paperwork
- Ability to work independently and self‑schedule
- Self‑motivated to complete assigned tasks within time constraints
- Driven to succeed and able to work with minimum supervision
- Availability for weekend and night work occasionally
- Willingness to relocate within the country after training
- Local travel may be required
Physical Requirements
- Installation, repair and preventative maintenance of commercial, rooftop HVAC units, often performed independently
- Access rooftop via fixed/extension ladder
- Work at heights
- Load and unload tools/equipment from work van
- Lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally; up to 25 lbs to shoulder/overhead; push/pull wheeled cart up to 150 lbs; climb ladder to roof; manual tandem lifting up to 125 lbs
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly non‑exempt role. Salary range $34,000–$70,000 annually, depending on geography, tenure, performance, skills, education, experience and other qualifications. Employees are not eligible for a bonus but earn overtime for hours over 40 per week.
