HVAC Service Apprentice

SUMMARY

A successful HVAC Service Apprentice will develop the skills and knowledge need to perform all work related to the service and maintenance of all major types of HVAC equipment and systems. Responsible for retrofit and repair of environmental comfort systems, utilizing knowledge of air conditioning theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned.

• Projects a positive, friendly and professional image on behalf of the organization.
• Responsible for developing skills required for servicing all products and equipment on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Uses a variety of hand-tools, electronic devices, schematics or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.
• Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs systems and products at customer’s location.
• Aids in the performance of preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed or requested by customers.
• Strictly follows Havtech’s safety policies and procedures.
• Inspects vehicles by checking vehicle condition. Submits reports as required.
• Maintains and builds a knowledge base of materials to include literature, service manuals, service bulletins and electronic bookmarks.
• Maintains vehicles by keeping records of service manuals, scheduling, and completed repairs and maintenance service.
• Maintains equipment by inspecting for signs of wear and tear. Notifies customer and/or supervisor of findings.
• Engages senior mechanics with questions regarding assigned projects, equipment, troubleshooting, etc. Demonstrates comprehension of directions, required procedures and scope of work.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the job, mission and values of the company.
• Delivers parts and equipment as necessary.
• Completes required paperwork on each job, documenting daily time, progress, and duration. Maintains files.

• Keeps and maintains a safe and organized work environment.
• Operates all company owned equipment safely and responsibly.
• Keeps current on requirements for installation, operation, maintenance, service and repair of all manufacturer’s products that Havtech represents.
• Reads and interprets product and building specifications, drawings and designs.
• Develops ability to provide technical support to customers.
• Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as necessary.
• Regular travel requirements with some overnight travel

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS/ CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Must possess computer skills with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Experience working with building specifications, drawings and designs.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record for state of residence.
• EPA Certification
