Job summary

Trane Technologies, a world leader in climate solutions, is seeking an HVAC Technician for Rental Services. The role centers at the Service Center with occasional customer-site support, startup, and teardown activities.

You will inspect, repair, and prepare equipment for deployment and return, ensuring readiness and quality across the rental fleet. The position emphasizes strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, safety-first mindset, and collaboration with project managers and operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• 2–5 years of experience in commercial HVAC or equivalent education is required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and handheld devices (smartphone, tablet).
• Valid driver’s license for at least 12 months, with clean record.
• EPA Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC rental equipment at the Service Center.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues and take corrective actions.
• Support equipment startup, commissioning, and operational testing before shipment and upon return.
• Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and movement of rental equipment within the Service Center (powered industrial vehicles).
• Support field installation, startup, and teardown of rental equipment at customer sites as needed.
• Work with team leaders, project managers, and operations to prioritize equipment readiness and customer demand.
• Accurately document inspections, repairs, service activity, and equipment condition.
• Maintain accountability for tools, equipment, and Service Center assets.
• Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and safety protocols in shop and job sites.
• Be flexible for overtime and occasional overnight travel; participate in on-call rotation.
