Job summary

University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking an HVAC & Refrigeration Mechanic I to maintain and repair building systems across campus. This onsite role requires strong knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, and control systems, with supervision responsibilities for technicians and journeymen.

Qualifications

Minimum three years in HVAC and refrigeration trade, or an associate degree with two years in the trade.
Massachusetts Refrigeration License required.
Metasys Facility Operators Certificate to be completed within one year of hire.
CFC certification required.

Responsibilities

Inspect, maintain, repair and operate HVAC and refrigeration systems and related controls.
Provide supervision and mentoring for technicians and journeymen.
Act as first responder for control systems faults and initiate repairs.
Use diagnostic equipment and testing tools to troubleshoot equipment.
Document work in maintenance history and use software to manage systems.
Assist in drawing review and acceptance of new equipment and upgrades.
Operate university vehicles between campus buildings.
Deliver excellent customer service and coordinate with other trades.
