Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units.
  • Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Maintain major mechanical and electrical components.
  • Keep stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment.
  • Assemble pipes and ducts for refrigerants and air.
  • Overhaul pumps, compressors, controls, and ducts.
  • Calibrate thermostats.
  • Repair refrigeration unit systems.
  • Inspect and test systems for plans/specs compliance.
  • Adhere to Purchasing, HR and compliance guidelines.
  • Communicate with departmental managers.
  • Attend training and staff meetings; assist on projects.
  • Meet attendance and policy guidelines.
  • Duties may change; hours via 24-hour schedule.

Position Summary

Together with the HVAC-R Mechanic, the HVAC-R Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, and repairs and/or upgrades of all heating, ventilating and air condition equipment of each facility. All functions are to be performed within the guidelines of the Facilities Department policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives. Employee will be responsible for HVAC-R duties of advanced to considerable difficulty in the performance of facility equipment maintenance. This is a skilled position that requires proficiency to diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systems.


Essential Job Functions


  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units.

  • Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systems.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant plumbing, electrical, safety and building codes.

  • Ensure the proper working order of the major mechanical and electrical components of all Facilities.

  • Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment.

  • Assemble and connect pipes and ducts used in piping refrigerants, steam, hot water, and warm or conditioned air.

  • Overhaul and repair pumps, compressors, controls, piping ducts, and other equipment used in heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.

  • Calibrate thermostats.

  • Repair and maintain a variety of refrigeration unit systems.

  • Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance with plans and specifications or to detect and locate malfunctions.

  • Adhere to all Purchasing, HR, and compliance guidelines.

  • Communicate regularly with the departmental managers.

  • Attends all necessary training meetings and staff meetings. Assist in other projects, as directed.

  • Behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards. Communicate regularly with other employees.

  • Maintain safe chemical storage as deemed.

  • Assist with preparation of monthly and annual reports, record maintenance and repair work performed and the cost of the work.

  • Applicants must be able to substantiate a safe driving record within the parameters acceptable to our liability insurance carrier.

  • Work nights, weekends and holidays as required.

  • Employment contingent upon successful background investigation and drug screening.

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet requirements of the Quapaw Nation Motor Vehicle Policy.


Experience

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the technical fields involving the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment.


Education


  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  • Specialized training in HVAC-R or a related field required.


Physical Abilities


  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require reaching above shoulder level

  • Ability to push, pull, squat, kneel, bend, and safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds

  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, training, seminars, or professional development opportunities

  • Must be able to work with various power tools following proper safety procedures

  • Possess manual/finger dexterity — be able to quickly move hand, arm, or two hands and to make precisely coordinated movements of the finger of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects


Working Conditions


  • Work may be performed inside and outside office or shop buildings, including environments with excessive heat, cold, or elevated noise levels; appropriate PPE is provided.
