Job summary

Kelso Building Services is seeking a Project Superintendent to lead a commercial HVAC install on a Denver-area project. You will direct installation execution, coordinate with Central Services Center, and enforce safety, quality, and documentation standards on site.

You will supervise installers, coach teams, and manage risks to protect schedule and client commitments. Strong communication with project management and operations is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience.
• Proficiency with VRF Systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and manufacturer documentation.
• OSHA 10 required.
• EPA Universal certification preferred.

Position Summary

The Project Superintendent is a commercial HVAC Install leader responsible for delivering predictable, safe, and high-quality installation outcomes for an upcoming project in Aspen, CO. This role leads installation execution through oversight, planning, and enforcement of safety, quality, and documentation standards.

The Project Superintendent works in close coordination with the Central Services Center (CSC), including Project Management, Estimating, Accounting, and Dispatch, to ensure work is properly planned and executed. This role is the primary on-site contact for the project.

Key Responsibilities

Execution Leadership

• Lead and oversee installation execution.
• Ensure project is planned and executed safely, efficiently, and to defined quality standards.
• Identify execution risks early and take corrective action to protect schedule, quality, and customer commitments.

Project Oversight

• Directly supervise and support assigned installers.
• Coach, and hold installers accountable for jobsite safety, workmanship quality, and documentation discipline.
• Address performance issues through coaching and corrective action plans in alignment with company policy.

Coordination with Central Services Center (CSC)

• Partner with CSC Project Managers to validate job readiness (materials, access, permits, schedule constraints, inspections).
• Escalate scope gaps, material delays, or schedule risks through proper CSC processes.

Safety Leadership

• Actively lead and enforce company safety standards.
• Audit foremen-led toolbox talks, JHAs/JSAs, PPE compliance, and hazard controls.
• Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist and ensure proper documentation and corrective action.

Quality Control

• Establish and enforce quality gates at key project milestones (pre-start, rough-in, trim-out, commissioning readiness, closeout).
• Perform milestone inspections and risk-based jobsite audits.
• Maintain punch list discipline and prevent rework through early intervention.

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC experience.
• Proficiency with VRF Systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and manufacturer documentation.
• Physical capability to climb ladders, lift heavy equipment, and work in confined spaces.
• Solid troubleshooting instincts when installation challenges arise.
• EPA Universal certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 required.
• Demonstrated experience leading install crews.
• Proven ability to manage execution risk.
• Strong working knowledge of safety, quality, and field documentation expectations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with project management, estimating, and operations leaders.

Preferred

• Prior superintendent or field leadership experience.
• Familiarity with project management and scheduling tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project).
• Strong communication skills with both field and corporate stakeholders.
