Job summary

JMMechanical seeks an Assistant Project Manager to join our Project Management & Operations team and assist in coordinating commercial HVAC projects alongside Project Managers, Executives, and field leadership.

This role offers hands-on learning in construction project management, coordination, scheduling, BIM/Revit, materials, cost-tracking, and field operations, with opportunities to contribute to project workflows and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Degree or relevant experience in construction management, engineering, HVAC, drafting, or related field.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software and systems.
• The ability to work effectively with both office and field teams.
• Willingness to learn construction processes and commercial HVAC operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Project Executives with planning and coordinating commercial HVAC projects.
• Support project scheduling, milestone tracking, and daily project activities.
• Work with field foremen and crews to help keep projects on schedule and meeting expectations.
• Assist with Revit and Stratus drafting, 3D modeling, shop drawings, and project updates.
• Help coordinate HVAC designs with other trades and identify potential conflicts before installation.
• Assist with material take-offs, equipment counts, and procurement.
• Track equipment and material deliveries to ensure crews have what they need when they need it.
• Monitor labor productivity and project costs against established budgets.
• Assist with submittals and RFIs.
• Help maintain project documentation, daily logs, meeting minutes, progress reports, and other project records.
• Support project managers with billing, change orders, scheduling, and other project needs.
• Communicate with project teams, engineers, architects, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve project workflows and efficiency.
