Job summary

Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD is seeking an HVAC Preventive Maintenance Technician to perform scheduled PM on HVAC equipment, identify deficiencies, and assist with repairs and snow removal.

This full-time position requires a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and a valid driver’s license. The role involves working under supervision, following safety policies, operating equipment, and supporting other tradesmen, with overtime as needed and a competitive benefits

• Ability to read, write and follow directions. Basic computer skills.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mechanical, Low Voltage electrical, heating/cooling and general repairs.
• Must be familiar with and adhere to all the safety rules and regulations for the University Safety Policy which apply to the work environment.
• Know how to Lockout/Tagout equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

• Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
• Must be able to lift and carry heavy items up and down stairs.
• Must be able to spend a significant amount of time outside in all weather conditions.
• Be able to work off ladders and on roofs.
• Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

Salary/Benefits

Minimum Pay Rate: $24.00/hour
