Job summary

Penn Medicine’s Department of the Physical Plant seeks a Full-Time Plant Operator Apprentice to maintain, install, and repair commercial/industrial HVAC systems and boiler equipment under supervision. The role includes preventive maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, and collaboration with other trades within a leading academic medical center.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and have completed a four-year Local 835 apprenticeship; engineers’ (A) and CFC licenses are

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Local 835 apprenticeship program for four years required.
• Engineer’s (A) license and a CFC license by end of Apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain HVAC systems and related equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and boiler equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical control circuits and BAS relationships.
• Work with blueprints and schematic designs to install and repair systems.
• Assist other craftspeople as assigned and maintain clean, safe mechanical spaces.
