Job summary

JLL is seeking an Operating Engineer in Wilmington, NC to manage and optimize commercial HVAC systems, ensuring safety, efficiency and tenant comfort. You’ll monitor chillers, AHUs, and building automation, performing preventive maintenance and coordinating with vendors.

The role requires 3–5 years in large facilities, EPA 608, and strong problem‑solving. A valid HVAC certification and ability to read schematics are essential within a facilities team focused on reliability and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of HVAC operation in large facilities.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
• Ability to read blueprints and troubleshoot controls.
• Experience with building automation systems and CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain commercial HVAC systems including chillers and AHUs.
• Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose electrical/control system issues using diagnostic tools.
• Analyze system data to identify energy conservation opportunities.
• Maintain logs in CMMS and coordinate with contractors for upgrades.
