Job summary

CBRE is seeking an experienced HVAC Mobile Engineer to support maintenance and repairs for large-scale chiller systems across retail sites in the Sacramento region. You will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex HVAC equipment, including RTUs and water-cooled units, while coordinating with clients and teams.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of hands-on HVAC experience, WSHP and chiller familiarity, and strong reading of schematics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an HVAC technician, focusing on chiller systems.
• Hands-on experience with WSHP, pumps, RTUs, IntelliPaks, and SWUDs.
• Familiarity with BAS and HVAC controls; ability to read manuals, schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial and industrial chiller systems (centrifugal, screw, scroll, reciprocating).
• Diagnose issues with refrigeration circuits, compressors, evaporators, condensers, and other components.
• Service pumps used in HVAC systems and maintain rooftop units (RTUs) and Trane IntelliPaks.
• Maintain accurate service records and communicate updates to clients.

About The Role

Candidate will support assigned service calls for 8-10 retail stores within a geographical area. Will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on large scale commecial and industiral chiller systems as well as RTUs and split systems. Company vehicle, gas card, tools, IPad, and IPhone will be provided.

What you’ll do

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial and industrial chiller systems, including centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with refrigeration circuits, compressors, evaporators, condensers, and other system components.
• Service and maintain pumps used in HVAC systems, including chilled water and condenser water pumps.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot rooftop units (RTUs) and advanced systems like Trane IntelliPaks.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on self-contained water-cooled units (SWUDs).
• Conduct system performance tests and ensure optimal operation of HVAC systems and associated equipment.
• Work with building automation systems (BAS) to monitor and adjust chiller and HVAC performance.
• Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs and maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with clients and team members to provide updates and recommendations.
• Extensive knowledge of Trane, York and Carrier chillers. Ideal candidate should be able to rebuild them.

What you’ll need

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an HVAC technician, with a focus on chiller systems.
• Hands‑on experience with water source heat pumps (WSHP), pumps, rooftop units (RTUs), IntelliPaks, and self‑contained water‑cooled units (SWUDs).
• Experience with commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles and principles.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and control issues in HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 2 years of related experience and/or trade school training.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checks
• Possess necessary skills to functionally operate a "full size" van/truck
• Universal CFC or EPA certification preferred.
• Excellent social skills, including oral and written communications
• Uses computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, and training.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the HVAC Mobile Engineer position is $72,800 annually [or $35.00 per hour] and the maximum salary for the Mobile Engineer position is $87,360 annually [or $42.00 per hour]. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on their skills, qualifications, and experience.
