Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to support 8–10 retail stores, troubleshooting and repairing large-scale chiller systems and RTUs across a defined area. You’ll have a company vehicle, gas card, tools, iPad, and iPhone provided for field service.

You’ll work with BAS to optimize performance, read blueprints, and maintain records. Requires 3–5 years in HVAC with chiller focus and driver’s license; EPA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as an HVAC technician with a chillers focus.
• Hands-on with WSHP, RTUs, IntelliPak and SWUDs.
• Experience with commercial/industrial HVAC systems.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles and principles.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control issues.
• Familiarity with BAS and HVAC controls.
• Ability to read manuals, schematics and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• EPA/CFC certification preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial/industrial chillers (centrifugal, screw, scroll, reciprocating).
• Service pumps in HVAC systems, including chilled water and condenser water pumps.
• Install and troubleshoot RTUs and advanced systems like IntelliPak.
• Maintain SWUDs and monitor system performance.
• Conduct BAS-driven performance tests and adjustments.
• Interpret manuals, schematics, and blueprints for repairs.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation.
• Communicate updates and recommendations with clients and team.
• Rebuild Trane, York, and Carrier chillers as needed.

About The Role

Candidate will support assigned service calls for 8-10 retail stores within a geographical area. Will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on large scale commecial and industiral chiller systems as well as RTUs and split systems. Company vehicle, gas card, tools, IPad, and IPhone will be provided.

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial and industrial chiller systems, including centrifugal, screw, scroll, and reciprocating chillers.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with refrigeration circuits, compressors, evaporators, condensers, and other system components.
• Service and maintain pumps used in HVAC systems, including chilled water and condenser water pumps.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot rooftop units (RTUs) and advanced systems like Trane IntelliPaks.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on self-contained water-cooled units (SWUDs).
• Conduct system performance tests and ensure optimal operation of HVAC systems and associated equipment.
• Work with building automation systems (BAS) to monitor and adjust chiller and HVAC performance.
• Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs and maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with clients and team members to provide updates and recommendations.
• Extensive knowledge of Trane, York and Carrier chillers. Ideal candidate should be able to rebuild them.

What you’ll need

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an HVAC technician, with a focus on chiller systems.
• Hands-on experience with water source heat pumps (WSHP), pumps, rooftop units (RTUs), IntelliPaks, and self-contained water-cooled units (SWUDs).
• Experience with commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
• Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles and principles.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and control issues in HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 2 years of related experience and/or trade school training.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record with periodic checks
• Possess necessary skills to functionally operate a "full size" van/truck
• Universal CFC or EPA certification preferred.
• Excellent social skills, including oral and written communications
• Uses computer and / or PDA for work order system, email, and training.
