Job summary

Engineered Comfort Systems is seeking an HVAC/Mechanical & Piping Systems Estimator for commercial and industrial projects in Southeast Michigan and the Midwest. The role emphasizes owning the accuracy, speed, margin protection, and handoff quality of estimates against complex documents, vendor input, and deadlines.

You will turn incomplete information into competitive, profitable bids that ECS pursues, wins, and delivers, with a focus on continuous cost intelligence and disciplined estimating

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to interpret complex blueprints, specifications and scope requirements.
• Experience with estimating software and Procore or similar platforms.
• Working knowledge of mechanical codes, ASHRAE standards, and SMACNA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze plans, specifications, addenda, and scope requirements for commercial and industrial HVAC/MEP projects.
• Build accurate material takeoffs and labor estimates for sheet metal, piping, controls, equipment, and subcontracted scopes.
• Solicit and challenge vendor and subcontractor quotes; avoid just collecting numbers.
• Identify scope gaps, risks, and assumptions early to protect margin.
• Develop value-engineering options that preserve performance and value.
• Prepare disciplined bid packages and lead bid reviews for smooth handoffs to project management.
