Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC apprentice to join a team on client sites, gaining practical experience with mechanical equipment and controls. The role includes formal training through our Service Technical Academy, with opportunities for recognition, progression, and advancement.

Applicants should have 1+ years in HVAC or related services, be a union member or willing to join, and hold a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• 1+ years of industry experience or experience servicing mechanical systems in HVAC.
• Knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management, site preparation and peripheral equipment installation/servicing.
• Interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally.
• Leadership to support mechanics on non-complex HVAC equipment.
• Self-starter able to work independently.
• Safety prioritized in all tasks.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices will be trained and perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy to build skills and advancement.
• Develop troubleshooting and customer-service skills through coaching and mentorship.
• Keep JCI, contractors, and customers advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• Meet attendance requirements for required Union training in the first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to improve facility efficiency and upsell opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
