About the Company - Schneider Electric is looking for a Mechanical Project Manager/Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing project specifications and blueprints to estimate costs for mechanical, sheet metal, and piping installations. This role involves assessing project risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing cost-effective solutions to meet client and project requirements.

About the Role - Responsibilities include preparing detailed estimates for materials, labor, and equipment, reviewing drawings for accuracy, and coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers. The qualified candidate will manage multiple projects from inception to completion, ensuring that projects meet the requirements for time, scope, budget, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  1. Collect and analyze historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects
  2. Consult with clients, vendors, internal departments, and construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  3. Prepare estimates for management to support planning, organizing, and scheduling work
  4. Analyze blueprints and documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
  5. Collaborate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  6. Review contracts and bid documents to understand the project scope and ensure accurate project turnover
  7. Participate in walk-throughs, pre-bid, and scope clarification meetings
  8. Perform quantitative take-offs and enter data into estimating software
  9. Prepare scope letters and proposals for potential projects
  10. Maintain strong relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors
  11. Ensure all estimating documents are centrally saved in the company's confidential drive
  12. Assist account managers with takeoffs and pricing changes
  13. Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs
  14. Review SOWs and project contracts to determine risks, required resources, and time requirements for each project
  15. Schedule and facilitate project meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  16. Timely communication with all stakeholders regarding change orders, product delays, jobsite deliveries, and on-site visits
  17. Accountable for the escalation and resolution of all project-related issues
  18. Prepare a status report of resource utilization, milestone completion, and escalations for weekly review
  19. Maintain accurate files and records of project status, change orders, and activities via project software
  20. Develop and maintain a high level of trust and rapport with all stakeholders
  21. Perform evaluation of projects at time of completion and deliver assessments to Operations Manager for review
  22. Every project is expected to be delivered with the highest level of workmanship, on time, and within budget
  23. Travel to various job sites required

Qualifications:

  1. Previous experience in the HVAC Industry is required
  2. Previous experience with Estimating is required
  3. Strong knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation
  4. Familiarity with federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines
  5. Kentucky Masters License and/or OH HVAC license (or be able to obtain within 6 months)
  6. HVAC load calculations
  7. Duct work design and calculations
  8. Piping design and flow calculations.

  3. Must understand and communicate the financial aspects of Project Management such as budgets, forecasting, actual spend, and variance calculations.
  4. Must be well organized, an excellent communicator, and detail-oriented.
  5. Demonstrates ability to hold others accountable.
  6. Effective time management skills with the ability to coach others in this area.
  7. Understanding of technical and construction documentation.
  8. Demonstrates excellent writing and language skills.
