Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Responsible for designing and managing technical systems for large, complex projects from schematics through construction administration.
TYPICAL DUTIES - PROJECT RELATED
- Develop building system concepts and documentation from schematic design through construction administration within the discipline.
- Serve as Discipline Team Leader on large, complex projects when assigned.
- Oversee project team members within the discipline.
- Prepare and monitor project status reports.
- Conduct code research and document findings for projects.
- Contribute to the development of the project cost model and align design accordingly.
- Maintain the Mechanical Basis of Design Journal throughout the project.
- Research materials and products required for project development.
- Attend project meetings as needed.
- Coordinate with other Discipline Team Leaders.
- Respond to client questions/requests within 24 hours.
- Review and document interpretation and submittals during bidding and construction phases.
- Ensure quality architectural and engineering services within the project team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
TYPICAL DUTIES - NON-PROJECT RELATED
- Mentor support engineers to prepare them for higher responsibilities.
- Provide performance feedback to the supervisor.
- Identify and help implement opportunities to improve quality and service.
- Participate in in-house training activities.
- Engage in professional organizations and activities.
- Acknowledge staff members for exceptional work and going beyond their duties.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree and licensure are required.
- LEED Accreditation.
- Minimum of six years' experience in the A/E industry.
- Extensive knowledge of all phases of professional services from schematic design to project close-out.
- Strong understanding of coordination across all design disciplines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate, mentor staff, and delegate tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in computer and CADD software.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable.
- Ability to work collaboratively under deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel to project sites for meetings and site observations.
- Access to existing and new project sites for evaluation.
- Use of communication and documentation equipment.
- Visual acuity for performing responsibilities.
