Ambition Mechanical Services is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to lead our preconstruction efforts, handling budgets and bid development for retrofit and new construction projects.

The role involves conceptual budgeting, schematic estimates, cost-saving value engineering, subcontractor pricing, and cradle-to-grave turnover to guarantee smooth project execution.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–8 years of mechanical estimating experience on projects over $5 million.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, codes, and retrofitting.
• Experience with estimating software like FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble and Bluebeam.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual, schematic, and final bid-day estimates for projects up to $15 million.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative equipment selections to maintain budget.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor pricing to ensure complete scope coverage for trades like controls, insulation, and TAB.
• Provide cradle-to-grave briefings to project managers to ensure seamless transition from bid to execution.

You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of a bid - from initial conceptual budgeting for retrofits, ground up construction to estimating complex multi-million dollar commercial or industrial mechanical construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Estimation: Lead conceptual, schematic, and final bid-day estimates for projects up to $15 million
• Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative equipment selections to maintain budget without compromising performance
• Subcontractor Management: Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing, ensuring complete scope coverage for trades like controls, insulation, and TAB
• Project Turnover: Provide comprehensive "cradle-to-grave" briefings to project managers to ensure seamless transition from bid to execution

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Minimum 5-8 years of mechanical estimating experience, with a proven track record on projects exceeding $5 million
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of HVAC systems (ductwork, piping, controls) building codes, and mechanical retrofitting
• Software Proficiency: Must have experience in using estimating software like FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Trimble and Bluebeam
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management preferred, or equivalent work experience in HVAC mechanical estimating
