Job summary

CSA Group in New York is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead HVAC design for educational, institutional, and municipal projects. Under senior engineers, you will prepare load calculations, equipment selections, layouts, and construction drawings with AutoCAD and Revit.

Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, review drawings and codes, support permitting and field surveys, and travel 25–50% as required. Requires a 4+ year mechanical design background and EIT or active in exam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 4 years of mechanical engineering design experience, including HVAC.
• EIT certification is required or in process.
• Familiarity with NYC projects and public-agency experience preferred.
• Knowledge of NYC codes and international standards (IBC, IMC, IECC, ASHRAE, NFPA).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Proficiency with HVAC load-calculation software (e.g., TRACE, HAP).
• Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and documents.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform HVAC system design under guidance for various project types.
• Prepare load calculations, equipment selections, duct/piping layouts, and drawings.
• Prepare engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Support permitting, bidding, and construction documentation.
• Participate in site surveys, field measurements, and observations.
• Coordinate mechanical designs with other disciplines.
• Assist with cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and schedules.
• Support construction administration and review of submittals.
• Attend project meetings with clients and teams.
• Travel within New York and New Jersey for site visits and meetings.
