Job summary

Jefferson Health is seeking an experienced HVAC/R technician to maintain and repair hospital heating, ventilation, and cooling systems at Lansdale Hospital. You will work with chillers, cooling towers, and controls, ensuring compliance with refrigerant regulations and industry guidelines.

The role involves reading blueprints, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting complex HVAC equipment, in a hospital setting with a day shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program from a certified technical school.
• Philadelphia Class A license preferred for Philadelphia hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, install, inspect, repair, and troubleshoot HVAC/R systems including chillers and towers.
• Ensure refrigerant compliance and follow NFPA, BOCA, ASHRAE guidelines.
• Interact with staff and visitors consistent with Jefferson values.
• Repair equipment using refrigerants for heating/cooling and maintain cooling towers.
• Troubleshoot AHUs, fans, pumps, VFDs, towers, and related equipment.
• Install new or replacement components, motors, belts, valves, actuators, and pumps.
• Read blueprints/specifications/owner manuals; inspect HVAC systems for reliability.
• Perform preventive maintenance using predictive tech like vibrations/thermography.

Responsible for the operation, maintenance, installation, inspection, repair, and troubleshooting of the hospital's heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment (such as chillers and towers) in keeping with their functional and satisfactory operating condition. Responsible for refrigerant compliance. Ensures all work practices are in accordance with guidelines set by NFPA, BOCA, ASHRAE, and other regulating bodies.**Job Description**1. Maintains and repairs all equipment using refrigerants for heating/cooling, including cooling towers, auxiliary equipment, steamand controls systems.3. Troubleshoots heating and cooling problems including AHU’s, fans, pumps, cooling towers, VFD’s and related equipment.4. Installs new and/or replacement components and complete units including motors, belts, fans, thru walls, compressors, icemachines, valves, actuators, and other related equipment.5. Welds, brazes and solders piping, valves and associated components.6. Reads and works from blueprints, specifications, and owner’s manuals.7. Inspects and tests all HVAC related systems for reliability. Employs predictive technology such as vibrations and thermographyfor ongoing maintenance needs.8.
