The State of Hawai'i is seeking a qualified HVAC/R mechanic for vacancies in the University of Hawaii facilities and cancer center divisions. The role requires a Universal Technician EPA certification and four years of experience in maintenance and overhaul of air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment.

Applicants must have a valid driver's license and be able to meet physical requirements. Substitutions to experience and certification rules apply; relocation and testing details

Qualifications

• Experience: FOUR (4) YEARS of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and overhaul of air conditioning and/or refrigeration equipment as a helper or apprentice under a journey level air conditioning and/or refrigeration mechanic.
• Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.
• Certification Required: EPA certification as a Universal Technician.
• Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
• Physical Requirements: Some positions require the ability to lift and carry items of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Independently performs skilled preventive maintenance work in operating, maintaining, repairing, and overhauling a variety of air conditioning, refrigeration and ventilation systems and equipment and performs other related duties as assigned.
