Job summary

City and County of Honolulu is seeking a licensed Air Conditioning Mechanic to maintain, repair, test, and operate air conditioning and refrigeration systems across city facilities on Oahu. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and reading technical plans.

You will work with refrigerants, in confined spaces, and may require odd hours for emergencies. A EPA Universal Certificate and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC/R systems.
• Ability to read plans and manuals.
• EPA Universal Certificate required for refrigerants servicing.
• Valid driver's license (Type 3) required.
• Ability to estimate labor and material requirements.
• Adherence to safety procedures and precautions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test AC and refrigeration equipment for proper operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC/R systems including lubrication, belt adjustments, and cleaning/defrosting.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions and estimate materials, parts, and labor for repairs.
• Read technical plans and manuals; occasional soldering, brazing, and welding.
• Prepare reports on work performed, materials used, and labor.
