Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking HVAC apprentice candidates for on-site client-site work. You will train on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls, participate in the Service Technical Academy, and gain practical experience to serve customers effectively.

This bargaining unit role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and developing solutions that improve facility performance. A valid driver's license is required, with opportunities for advancement through union training.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site
• Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• This position requires a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
• Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs.
• You will keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
• You will meet attendance requirements for required Union training for first year.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
• This is a Bargaining Union Position

Preferred

1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.

• This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

• Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.

Pay Range: starting at $17.18/hr. Hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
