The HVAC Mechanic performs technical trades work to maintain heating, ventilating and air conditioning and/or refrigeration equipment as part of the services provided by the facilities management department to maintain University buildings. The incumbent provides daily maintenance support to building users to respond to calls for service, making scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and similar service.
Depending upon area assigned, this position reports directly to the Mechanical Shop Supervisor or one of the Zone Managers or to the Preventive Maintenance Manager along with tradesmen and trades helpers. The work of the incumbents provides a direct service to the department to ensure a comfortable, safe and clean environment in which the University community can live, learn and work.
