Job summary

ASRC Federal System Solutions at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station seeks an HVAC Mechanic to independently maintain, repair, and troubleshoot domestic and industrial climate control systems year-round.

Qualifications

• Trade school or Military HVAC Training preferred.
• Journeyman's License or Florida Contractors License preferred.
• Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office.
• CMMS experience desired.
• Valid FL driver license.
• Must possess a current security clearance or be able to obtain one.
• US Citizenship required for security clearance.

• Operate testing equipment such as Freon leak tester and psychrometer; log results.

ASRC Federal System Solutions is seeking an HVAC Mechanic at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Responsibilities:

• Independently maintain, modify, troubleshoot, repair, adjust, calibrate, validate, certify, test and operate domestic and industrial year-round air conditioning, heating units, including chillers and cooling towers.
• Remove and replace compressors, condenser coils, condensing units, water pumps, fans and other system components.
• Maintain all internal electrical circuitry.
• Recover and replenish lubricants and refrigerants.
• Connect vacuum and pressure gauges, electro/mechanical controls and other accessories.
• Test units and adjust all components to specifications.
• Perform any work assigned to the employees in the classification.
• Work from maintenance procedures, vendor documents, verbal information, blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics and applicable national, state and municipal specifications, codes and ordinances.
• Read and make control adjustments using such typical testing equipment as Freon leak tester, thermometer (wet and dry bulbs) sling and motorized psychrometer, monometer, velometer, hydrometer, humidistat, etc.
• Perform minor insulation with prefabricated mineral insulating material, bindings, plastic, cement, etc. as required.
• May operate gaswelding equipment to perform cutting, burning and soldering as necessary to accomplish work assignments.
• Maintain logs, records, charts, etc., as required. Maintain certifications, licenses, permits, etc., required for performance of assigned tasks.
• Perform work in other classifications when incidental, but necessary to accomplish work assignments.
• May include managing hazardous materials or other environmental responsibilities.
• May be required to participate in preparation, ride-out, and recovery actions following natural disasters.
• May be asked to support hurricane preparation and recovery activities.
• Perform work in compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA and Air Force laws, regulations and requirements including energy management, conservation regulations, security, safety, hurricane and other specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section, working within the limits of established policy.

Requirements:

• Requires a High School diploma or equivalent plus seven (7) years industrial/commercial HVAC experience. Trade school and/or Military HVAC Training preferred. Journeyman's License or Florida Contractors License also preferred.
• EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.

• Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office applications.
• Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience desired.
• Must be capable of working on ladders >6', andcarry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Must maintain certifications, licenses, permits, etc. required for performance of assigned tasks.
• Valid FL driver license.
• Must possess a current security clearance or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• US Citizenship is necessary for obtaining security clearance.

Work Environment:

• Field work required, limited office work. Exposure to loud noises.

Physical Demands:

• Walking, standing & sitting, lift/carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Climbing/working on ladders >6'. Prolonged standing. Climbing stairs. Kneeling, squatting and bending.
