Job summary

J&J Worldwide Services CBRE Government and Defense Business is seeking a Generator Technician to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair engines and standby generators across various sites. The role involves diagnosing components, performing start-ups, PMs, and load bank tests while coordinating with service writers, foreman, and customers.

The ideal candidate has 3 years of Generator Technician experience or a technical degree, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work alternate shifts.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent education.
• 3 years of Generator Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintenance, and repair on all makes of generators.
• Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify all components of the generator, engine and switch gear.
• Repair, service and maintain all makes and models of standby generators.
• Conduct start-ups, preventative maintenance, service and load bank tests.
• Maintain and repair automatic transfer switches; work on a variety of commercial / industrial customer sites.
• Troubleshoot generator components including alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems.
• Work on common standby generator brands such as Cummins, Kohler, Generac, Briggs and Stratton.
• Perform administrative duties related to the role (meeting all TJC requirements).
• Meet requirements for certifications.
• 1‑3 years of EPG/Electronics and/or Diesel Engine Repair experience or a technical degree is a plus
• Positive interface with service writers, foreman, parts department and customers.
• A valid driver’s license is required
• Must be willing to work alternate shifts as required to support the mission

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, and perform constant arm extensions
• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but not to a level that is disagreeable; may involve minor safety hazards such as cuts, bruises, etc.
