Advertised Job Summary

Under limited supervision, maintains and follows a safe, productive, cost effective, and comprehensive planned and corrective maintenance program for constant reliable operations relating to all HVAC , electrical, and plumbing (including kitchen appliances) needs with in assigned buildings by receiving work orders; communicating with the Call Center and the supervisor; planning, inspecting, verifying, communicating, and problem solving assigned maintenance issues; ensuring that all work performed follows the departmental and OSHA safety guidelines, policies, and regulations; and ensuring that all facility systems are in safe working order and compliant with national and local codes and regulations while exhibiting professionalism in conduct, appearance, and work practices. Performs complex journey level carpentry work to include the use of saws, planers, nail guns, screw guns, levels, and hand tools to make repairs and ensure compliance with local codes.
Assists with the coordination of the installation of new and modified maintenance related systems at the supervisor’s direction to include but not limited to reading blueprints, schematics, or drawings; consulting with University Project Managers, contractors, and sub-contractors to provide information on existing systems that may be affected during a project and advice on requirements for future construction projects; and troubleshooting new or newly modified systems to assure proper functioning of the system

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma and 4 or more years of experience. Experience in a commercial or residential trades occupation including but not limited to carpentry, electrical, HVAC , and/or plumbing with knowledge of national and local code requirements for trades area.

Must possess a valid South Carolina drivers license.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to work within established resources. Ability to communicate in writing and orally to management. Ability to maintain accurate records relating to time, materials and services provided. Ability to operate computer systems is essential. Having strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and prioritize work are essential. Demonstrate dedication to team work and customer service. Employee must utilize safe work practices and promote safety in the work place.
