Job summary

UG2 in Cambridge, MA is seeking a Maintenance Technician 1 Licensed to maintain, repair, and install HVAC equipment, ductwork, controls, and related building systems. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and effective tenant relations.

The position requires an active HVAC license with at least five years’ experience in a commercial/industrial setting, strong knowledge of HVAC and electrical codes, and the ability to perform brazing, soldering, and welding.

Qualifications

• Active HVAC license.
• Minimum of five years of experience as an HVAC mechanic in a commercial/industrial facility.
• Familiarity with HVAC and electrical codes.
• Ability to plan and organize work.
• Proficiency in brazing, soldering, and welding.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude with large tonnage HVAC equipment.
• Willingness to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and controls to identify problems and repair as needed.
• Perform ongoing maintenance as part of preventive program.
• Install ductwork, refrigeration piping, AC units, and exhaust equipment.
• Operate, maintain, and log HVAC and MEP equipment.
• Respond to tenant service requests and build positive relationships.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Maintain logs detailing preventive work.
• Assist in inventory management and stock.
• Respond to emergencies and client concerns.
• Review tenant plans and inspect construction areas for compliance.
• Manage fire alarm and sprinkler systems with contractors.
• Inspect buildings and equipment for unsafe conditions.
• Maintain and operate life safety/fire systems.
• Perform minor repairs on doors, hardware, locks, etc.
• Troubleshoot and suggest maintenance savings.
• Follow codes, regulations and safety policies.
• Daily communication with management, engineering, security, tenants, and contractors.
• Perform other related duties including snow removal and cross-training.
