Job summary

Colleton River Club is looking for an HVAC Technician to perform a variety of maintenance duties in Bluffton, SC. Responsibilities include inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical servicing. Candidates should have a High School Diploma, relevant experience, and hands-on skills in HVAC or general maintenance.

Job Summary

The position is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance duties in service, installation, and repair within HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine, and electrical servicing. The role requires knowledge of general maintenance procedures and safety measures in each area and the ability to become familiar with and practice assignments outlined in the Departmental Standards of Operation.

HVAC Technician
  • Provides backup coverage for the Maintenance Worker role but primarily responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining all heating and air conditioning equipment, including heat pumps, split systems, cooling towers, building automation systems, exhaust fans, closed loop systems, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintains and repairs refrigeration components such as coolers, freezers, compressors, condensers, fans, coils, and closed loop systems.
  • Cleans, repairs, and maintains ice machines per manufacturer recommendations at required frequencies.
  • Assists with other systems as needed, including pool heaters and chillers, drinking fountain chillers, and plumbing.
Maintenance Worker Responsibilities
  • Repairs and services electrical, mechanical, structural, and plumbing systems; door & window hardware; furniture; roofing; ceilings; walls; floors; windows; carpets; lighting; painting; and other commercial facilities maintenance systems and components.
  • Performs power washing as a regular duty.
  • Assists in setup, take down, and moving of event‑related equipment and components.
  • Inspects and performs minor maintenance repairs in the Rental Cottages.
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders, completing all related paperwork promptly.
  • Uses power tools safely and efficiently, follows safe work practices and uses personal protective equipment as required.
  • Performs regular preventive maintenance as directed or according to an established maintenance schedule.
  • Takes independent action on observed issues; seeks and offers help when needed.
  • Uses the work order system on a smartphone after training.
  • Assumes any additional duties as requested by the Manager of Facilities Maintenance.
  • Adheres to uniform guidelines, maintaining a well‑groomed, positive professional image at all times.
  • Adjusts work schedule to business needs, including weekend hours, and complies with all service, teamwork, safety, and dependability expectations outlined in the Team Member Handbook.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of one‑year related experience and/or training.
  • 3–4 years hands‑on experience preferred in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building hardware repair, or general maintenance work in a club environment.
  • Commercial painting and power washing experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Active EPA certification for HVAC technicians from a recognized provider.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking, standing or sitting; lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds; working safely from ladders and heights, including bending, twisting, stooping, and walking.
