Job summary

West Texas Detention Center is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to supervise and perform maintenance across heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. You will estimate work, manage materials, and lead offender maintenance crews while ensuring safety regulations are followed.

The role requires strong knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration, plus the ability to train others and coordinate with staff.

Qualifications

• Two years full-time experience operating, maintaining, and repairing HVAC or refrigeration systems.
• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent; GED accepted.
• Must maintain valid HVAC license(s) for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, inspects, schedules, assigns, and participates in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance work.
• Prepares estimates of hours, materials, and resources; initiates material requisitions.
• Trains and supervises offender maintenance workers and ensures safety compliance.
• Install, maintain and repair HVAC systems and equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
• Perform emergency repairs promptly and keep daily maintenance logs.
